According to Hindu scriptures, Surya Dev’s chariot has two axles associated with the cosmic Mount Meru and Mount Manasottara.
- First axle: One end is connected to Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain, and the other to the chariot’s wheel.
- Second axle: It is associated with Mount Manasottara, which lies along the Sun’s mythical path.
Why are they situated there? They symbolically support the Sun’s chariot and explain its movement across the universe, maintaining the cycle of day and night and the passage of time.
Arun drives the chariot of Surya Dev because he was appointed as the Sun God’s charioteer in Hindu mythology.
